The Best Part of Being an Adult…

The Best Part of Being an Adult…

… is knowing that you can have ice cream any time of the day you want!

No one can say “no”, no one has to know, and no one can judge really. The best ice cream I have ever had was introduced to me by a friend who knows NYC Eats pretty well, and I have done everyone I am close to the favor of introducing them to the deliciousness that is Ample Hills Creamery. Originating in Brooklyn about 5 years ago, they have expanded into the city and luckily opened a location in the Meatpacking District, easy walking distance from me.

I eat ice cream often and this is by far the absolute best. The flavors you see above (in order of favorite):
Ooey Gooey Butter Cake: “the smoothest, creamiest vanilla ice cream with gobs of St.Louis ooey gooey butter cake pieces”
Nonna D’s Oatmeal Lace: “organic brown sugar and cinnamon ice cream with pieces of nonna d’s oatmeal lace cookies”
Salted Crack Caramel: “salted butter caramel ice cream with pieces of deb’s famous crack cookies (saltines, butter, sugar, chocolate)”
Munchies: “pretzel infused ice cream with crisps, graham cracker chunks, mini m&ms”

In a world where adding toppings and mix-in’s is the standard, Ample Hills has created each flavor to the point of perfection that none are needed. The ooey gooey butter cake is my absolute favorite. The ice cream is so creamy and smooth (and I am not a vanilla ice cream person) and the St.Louis butter cake is rich, moist and pure goodness. Butter might be a leading ingredient in all of their ice creams, which is great. This flavor in particular you can taste how rich it is. Probably not one of their most recommended or the first flavor one would consider to get, the oatmeal lace is a surprising favorite. The crunchy lace cookies are the perfect crunch to the sweet brown sugar and cinnamon ice cream. Salted crack caramel is an Ample Hills staple. Slightly salty, still sweet, and full of caramel flavor it is rich and unlike any other caramel flavored ice cream or dessert you’ve ever tried. Finally, the Munchies. A twist on “everything but the kitchen sink,” this flavor will take you right back to your childhood. Velvety ice cream with all the crunchy and sweet mix ins you could hope for. It’s hard to write a descriptive review of these ice creams because words do not do them justice, they are absolutely divine!

If you are in New York and looking for a delicious ice cream or dessert to treat yourself to, Ample Hills is a top rec.

Bonus: during the election they offered two limited time flavors. I’m not going to make a comment since it’s probably best to leave politics out of this, but feel free to check out and enjoy:

Madam President: “Made with sugar and spice and women’s rights. Chili pepper chocolate ice cream  with Hillary’s own chocolate chip cookies”
Make America Orange Again: “Warning! May contain bluster, hot air and bricks. Orange* marshmallow ice cream with brownie bricks”
