Buttermilk biscuit bread is a delicious and easy-to-make bread that is perfect for breakfast or brunch. With its combination of the familiar, comforting taste of biscuits and the wholesome goodness of freshly baked bread, this delightful creation is guaranteed to bring joy to your table.

Biscuit bread is a type of bread that is made with biscuit dough. Novice bakers, fret not: it is a quick bread that is easy to make and requires no yeast. The recipe for biscuit bread typically involves mixing flour, baking powder, salt, and milk together to form a dough that is then baked in the oven until it is golden brown. It really is that easy!

While there are many variations of biscuit bread recipes that include additional ingredients such as butter, sugar, and eggs, mine is plain and simple. Nothing wrong with plain and simple when it is still delicious and oh so versatile. Try using it in a variety of ways:

This bread seamlessly combines the beloved characteristics of flaky biscuits and warm, comforting bread. It is moist, with a nice crumb, which adds a unique touch. With its tender crumb, golden crust, and a hint of tanginess from the buttermilk, for such a simple creation, there is quite a bit of uniqueness!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5–1/2 cups (700g) bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2–3/4 cups buttermilk (room temperature)      

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. Add baking soda and baking powder to your sifted flour. Mix.
  3. Add salt and lightly mix.
  4. Add oil and buttermilk. Mix just to combine all.
  5. Transfer onto the floured surface and knead a little to form a ball. Place your dough in a pan lined with parchment paper. This one works well for any size needs.
  6. Spread the dough a little to fill the pan lined with parchment paper. Bake for 35-40 min.
  7. Cool on a wire rack and serve anytime of day!
