1/2 cup butter
1–1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs (separated)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon of buttermilk
2 cups all purpose flour
3 large bananas (mashed)
1 cup chopped walnuts
Caramel Frosting:
1–1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter
For caramel frosting combine all ingredients in a saucepan, cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until mixture reaches 240F. Remove from heat and beat until spreading consistency. Spread immediately on a cooled cake.
