Green tea is known for it’s wonderful health benefits. Cake is known for just the opposite.
A mixture of green tea and cake has to be what everyone is referring to when they say your diet should be “balanced,” right?
Lady M Confections, located in the Midtown and Upper East Side of Manhattan, has created a cake that was so interesting to me, I just have to write a review on it. The Green Tea Mille Crepe cake is not only aesthetically intriguing, the taste is so pure and true to the name, you can’t help but fall in love with it and the bakery as a whole.
Twenty layers of their signature crepe base make up this delight. Between each layer there is a light crème consisting of green tea flavors and green tea powder on top. I tried this at work with a few colleagues and we all had similar reactions. The first bite is somewhat confusing, but the crème and crepes melt together in your mouth and the green tea flavor kicks in and the cake tastes heavenly. It is extremely smooth in texture and each bite is full of flavor. Green tea is expressed in each bite making this cake the most distinctive of the offerings at Lady M.
It is very light and not overly sweet, just right for an afternoon treat or even a breakfast if you’re like me and wake up with a sweet tooth. 20 layers is no easy feat (I know from watching Mina bake my absolute favorite Medovik Cake dozens of times) and these crepes are so thin and clever in design, it makes the entire cake a show stopper and perfect for any dinner party.
If you are a traditional cake lover, I would not recommend this dessert for you; however, they do offer more traditional Chocolate Crepe or Coconut Crepe cakes that have the same melt in your mouth effect. So next time you are having a sweet tooth craving, and need a little caffeine kick, I suggest you give Lady M a try, you won’t be disappointed!
